Here I Am Version 1.2

Version 1.2 is now available in the App Store.

It contains a minor tweak to the user interface, making the iPhone vibrate right before opening the mail application.

Now if a location lock is taking a long time you don’t have to visually monitor Here I Am, it will tell you when it is ready for more input.

Negative Reviews In The App Store

There is obviously a glitch in the matrix somewhere as a few people have been writing 1 star reviews on the App Store due to the inaccuracy of the results returned. Unfortunately the only direct contact I have received is in the form of happy customers.

If you are having problems with the accuracy of Here I Am then I would love to seed you a beta version with logging enabled so that we can figure out why some people are getting results as far as 3km’s away from their actual location. I really would like to see a text message option. It pinpoints your location, then asks you email or text message.

Text messages still can link, and google maps works on much more than just an iphone.

that would be an excellent improvement, or separate application if necessary.

I like “Here I Am” and I don’t mind it not pinpointing me quite correctly, now and then. Blame the GPS, Apple, Global Warming, whatever. But it would be nice to SEE where it thinks I am ! Unfortunately, the mail that is composed doesn’t show a clickable URL of the Google map coordinates.

Now I guess it’s not possible to change the behaviour of Apple’s Mail composing features. But Here I Am could show a dialogue with the small portion of the Google Map (to save time and data) and let me confirm it or go back or correct it ?

BTW: I preferred your app to that “other one” because of the icon !

Hey,

Thanks for making this app, it’s nice and simple and gets the job done :)
One issue I have: when I open the link sent in an e-mail from Here I Am on my iPhone, the Maps application zooms to the middle of the ocean off the coast of Africa (obviously not my correct location). If I zoom out and scroll over to the United States, the pin is in the correct spot. But it’s annoying to have to do this.

According to this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7901311&tstart=0 this might be because Google changed their API and is expecting N and W instead of + and - in the coordinates. Would appreciate if you could look into this, thanks!

Smedberg,

Currently it is not possible to send via SMS.

It’s something I would love to do in a future release when Apple provides a facility to do so.

Great software!

Would it be possible to send the link as an SMS?
